Semi-Spade Rudder

Application

The upper half of the semi-spade rudder is supported on the rudder button at the rudder post or on the rudder arm, and the lower half is a spade rudder. It is mostly used for sea-going ships that do not require high performance and as a side rudder for inland ships. With the propeller, there are several types of semi-spade rudders that are set behind the deadwood and behind the stern bracket. A semi-spade rudder is a type of rudder used in marine vessels such as ships and boats. It is a hybrid design that combines the features of a spade rudder and a balanced rudder, resulting in a more efficient and maneuverable steering system. The semi-spade rudder is typically made of steel or other durable materials and has a triangular shape with a flat surface on one side and a curved surface on the other. The flat surface faces forward and acts as a hydrofoil to generate lift, while the curved surface faces aft and provides steering control.

Advantages and Features

1. Enhance the structure strength of the stern and reduce the bending moment in way of the neck bearing of the rudder.

2. Increase the straight navigation performance of the vessel.

3. Bearing the higher lifting coefficient.

4. Improve the steering quality of the vessel.

5. Reduce the forge ahead distance (braking distance) when the ship brakes.

6. The driver shaft sleeve uses non-metal materials, water lubrication, and no pollution.
