Hawsepipe

Hawsepipe

The hawsepipe is usually located at the bow, one on each side, for storage the main anchor (stockless). Some ships may also be provided with hawsepipe in the stern for special needs.

The commonly used inclined hawsepipe should consider:

A. the anchor can be cast quickly and freely, and can be smoothly harvested, and the anchor claw can be pressed against the hull plate

B. the outlet of the anchor chain at the outer plate is away from the full water line. There should be a certain distance. When the vessel is sailing, the chopper does not touch the anchor body, avoiding splashing of the waves and affecting the driving line of sight. When designing, refer to the ship model test for bow wave data;

C. when the ship shape is thin, the hawsepipe should be prevented too close to the midline, so that the anchor does not get stuck when weighs anchor.
