Marine Chain Cable - Marine Anchor Chain - Hi-sea

Marine Chain Cable

Marine Chain Cable

Introduction:

Marine chain cables are used to connect anchors and ships. The common grade is U2 and U3. Usually, small diameter anchor chain cables with hot dip galvanized surface, the large diameter chain cables with bituminous paint. We can supply a wide range of marine chain cables from 12.5mm to 162mm. The common length for one shackle of anchor chain cable is 27.5m, but we can customized the cable length based on your requirements. All our marine chain cables can be approved by major classification societies.

How to Install Anchor Chains on a Vessel:

Installing an anchor chain on a vessel involves several steps, including selecting the correct size and type of chain, attaching it to the anchor, and securing it to the vessel. Here's a general overview of how to install an anchor chain on a vessel:
Choose the right chain: Select a chain that is the correct size and type for your vessel and the conditions you will be anchoring in. The chain should be rated for the weight of your vessel, and the length should be appropriate for the depth of the water where you will be anchoring.
Attach the chain to the anchor: Depending on the type of anchor and chain connection method, use a shackle, swivel, hook, or splice to connect the chain to the anchor.
Lower the anchor: Lower the anchor over the bow of the vessel, allowing the chain to pay out as it descends to the seabed. The amount of chain you let out should be at least three times the depth of the water.
Secure the chain: Once the anchor is on the seabed, slowly back the vessel away from the anchor, paying out more chain as you move backward. Once the desired amount of chain is out, use a chain stopper or windlass to secure the chain and take the weight off the anchor. This prevents the chain from dragging along the seabed and reduces strain on the anchor.
Monitor the anchor: While at anchor, monitor the anchor's position and the amount of chain you have out. Check for signs of dragging, and adjust the length of the chain as needed to maintain a secure hold.
When it's time to retrieve the anchor, slowly move the vessel forward, bringing the anchor and chain up over the bow. Be sure to use gloves when handling the chain to avoid injury. Clean and inspect the chain and anchor regularly for wear or damage and replace any components as needed to ensure safe and reliable anchoring.
