Description:

R4S is a grade of mooring chain. It is used to offshore facilities, and marine construction projects. According to different strength, mooring chains can be mainly divided into 5 grades: R3, R3S, R4, R4S, R5. Previously, there is grade ORQ, but it is replaced by grade U3. The minimum diameter of mooring chain is φ30mm, in China, the min.dia. about φ50mm. For Grade R4S, its strength higher than R3, R3S, R4 lower than R5. Tensile strength of this grade greater or equal to 960Mpa.

Anchor Chain Application:

An anchor chain is used to secure a vessel to the seabed when it is at anchor. The chain is attached to the anchor on one end and to the vessel on the other.

The main purpose of the anchor chain is to provide a strong, heavy and flexible link between the anchor and the vessel, allowing the anchor to hold fast to the seabed and prevent the vessel from drifting or being blown away by the wind or current.

When selecting an anchor chain, the size and weight of the chain should be appropriate for the size and weight of the vessel, and the expected weather conditions. A chain that is too small or lightweight may not be strong enough to hold the vessel in place during heavy weather, while a chain that is too heavy or thick may be difficult to handle and store.

The anchor chain should be inspected regularly to ensure that it is in good condition, with no signs of corrosion, wear, or damage. Proper maintenance and care of the chain are essential for its safe and effective use.
