How to Care for Your Life Jackets

Proper maintenance of your life jackets ensures they remain effective and provide reliable buoyancy over time. Follow these essential care guidelines to extend their lifespan and maximize safety.

Life Jacket Maintenance

· Inspect your life jackets at the start of each boating season.

· Check that all straps, buckles, and hardware are secure and functioning properly.

· Look for signs of damage, including leaks, mildew, hardened or lumpy buoyancy material, and oil saturation.

· Ensure the fabric is free from rips, tears, or punctures.

· Verify that the CCS/MED approval label is attached and legible.

· Replace any life jackets showing signs of deterioration, such as mildew stains, tears, or punctures.

Proper Storage

· Store life jackets in a well-ventilated area to prevent mildew and odor buildup.

· If wet, allow them to dry completely in open air before storing.

· Avoid drying with direct heat sources such as radiators, dryers, or heaters, as this can damage buoyancy materials.

Regular inspection and proper storage will help keep your life jackets in top condition, ensuring safety on the water.
