Marine Storm Valve: A Key Barrier to Ship Safety

I. Technical highlights: why is the stormvalve irreplaceable?

Instantaneous response against extreme sea conditions

Adopting float-spring linkage design, the storm valve can be automatically closed within 1 second when the water level fluctuates abnormally (e.g. when the ship is tilted sideways or the deck is on the waves), blocking seawater from backing up and avoiding the accident of ballast imbalance or cabin flooding.

Non-leakage sealing, long-lasting anti-corrosion

The valve disc and seat adopt 316L stainless steel + fluorine rubber (FKM) double sealing structure, which passes the ANSIClass VI severe test, and is resistant to salt spray, oil and extreme temperatures from -30℃ to 120℃, ensuring no leakage for 100,000 times of opening and closing.

Passive design, maintenance-free operation

No need for electric or hydraulic drive, relying on the mechanical structure to operate autonomously, especially suitable for emergency drainage systems and other critical scenarios, reducing operation and maintenance costs.

2. Funtion:

Prevent seawater from entering the hull due to the impact of wind and waves, so as to ensure the safety of navigation of ships. By turning off the valve, the surge valve can stop the sea from rushing in, preventing water from filling the cabin and protecting the hull and equipment from damage ‌

3. Selection guide: matching the key parameters of the demand

Diameter and pressure: DN80-DN200 (PN16) is recommended for conventional ships, and DN300 (PN25+) is required for deep sea operation.

Material suitability:

Seawater environment: the valve body is made of nickel aluminium bronze (C95800), and the sealing ring is made of EPDM rubber.

Fresh water pipeline: cast steel valve body + NBR rubber combination is more cost-effective.

Certification requirements: Be sure to confirm that the product holds CCS, ABS, LR and other mainstream classification societies certification, to ensure compliance with the sea.
