Installation and Maintenance of Marine Hatch

Installation Note

1. Small hatch covers are generally outfitting standard parts, which are square. Therefore, square openings at four corners are usually opened on the deck, and a circle of anti-abrasion round steel is welded. A circle of coaming is provided, and the small hatch is installed on the edge of the coaming.

2. Usually dry cargo tanks or storage tanks can be provided with small hatches with screw clips or wedge handles, and equipped with padlocks, and oil tanks should be provided with special oil tank covers. The small hatch cover installed at the entrance and exit of the internal emergency escape route on the weather deck shall be a small hatch cover that can be opened and closed on both sides, and shall be provided with a central rotating handle clip and a quick opening and closing small hatch with a spring hinge Cover is appropriate.

3. For the small hatch cover installed on the weather deck in front of the superstructure or deckhouse, the cover shall be opened and closed in the direction of the bow; the small hatch cover installed near the bulkhead (or co There should be enough space between the wall) or the stiffener and the insulation to ensure that after the cover plate is fully opened, the wing nuts and bolts of the screw clamp can be laid down smoothly without touching the bulkhead.

4. When an inclined ladder is required under the hatch cover, the opening size of the hatch shall ensure that there is sufficient space for personnel to go up and down the inclined ladder. When a straight ladder needs to be installed under the hatch cover, it is only used as an entrance and exit for personnel, and the hatch opening should be positioned so that the straight ladder can be within the range of the through hole.

5. When the upper and lower decks or platforms are provided with small hatches for personnel access, the positions of these two small hatches should be staggered, otherwise it is not safe, and it will affect the installation of the straight ladder and the opening of the hatch cover. close. If it is specially used for articles to enter and exit, and small hatches need to be installed on the same position on the upper and lower decks or platforms, no straight ladders should be installed.

Maintenance

Before repairing, open and close the hatch several times to find out the cause of the failure according to the hatch cover when it is switched on and off, and find the right medicine according to the performance of the hatch cover when it is switched on and off.

1. The watertightness of the ship's hatch cover directly affects the use effect of the ship's hatch cover, which can directly reflect the water pressure bearing capacity of the ship in the water and its own performance. Once the watertightness device is deformed or damaged, it will directly affect the ship's cabin. Due to the performance of the cover, the normal function of the ship's watertight device cannot be fully exerted.

2. All seals should be in good condition. The overall length should be replaced when replacing or renewing. Partial lengths of seals must not be repaired and no gaps may exist.

3. Hatch cover strips should have a uniform surface and be free from damage and severe deformation

4. Hatch cover grooved seals should be free of corrosion, damage and deformation.

5. Calibrate the position of the cargo hatch cover.

6. Wheels, rollers, hinges and other operating parts and mechanisms shall be in full serviceable condition, free from rust, damage and deformation, properly adjusted and well oiled.

7. Hatches and coamings should be free of holes, cracks, unsealed gaps or serious damage.

8. When replacing the manhole cover, the manhole gasket should be clean and free of debris and dirt that could cause leakage. Also, check all manhole covers to make sure they are evenly seated.
