Rock Wool Panel

Rock Wool Panel

1. Introduction:

Rock wool panel, also known as mineral wool panel, is a type of building insulation material made from natural volcanic rock such as basalt, diabase, and dolomite. The rock is melted at a high temperature, and then spun into thin fibers. These fibers are then compressed and bonded together to form rigid panels or batts.

Rock wool panel is a new type of heat preservation, fire insulation and sound absorption material.

It is used for wall and ceiling systems in cabins and living modules with fireproof division requirement of structures on various and marine projects.

2. Features:

It has the function of fire prevention: the outer wall rock wool board is made of natural volcanic rock, which is non-combustible building material and fireproof material.

Main fire characteristics:

1) With the highest fire rating A1, can effectively prevent spread of fire.

2) Dimensions are very stable and do not elongate, shrink, or deform in fire.

3) High temperature resistant, its melting point is above 1000.

4) No smoke or combustion droplets/fragments in a fire.

5) Substances and gases harmful to the environment will not be released in the fire.

Heat preservation and heat insulation: the outer rock wool board fiber and flexible, and the slag ball content is low. Thus low thermal conductivity, with excellent thermal insulation effect.

Sound-absorbing: rock wool is an ideal sound insulation material, a large number of long and thin fibers from a porous connection structure, which determines that the rock wool is an excellent sound absorption and noise reducing.

Hydrophobicity: hydrophobic rock wool product hydrophobic rate can reach 99.9%; Very low water absorption, no capillary penetration.

Moisture resistance: rock wool in the humidity of the environment, the volume hygroscopic rate is less than 0.2%, according to ASTMC1104 or ASTM1104M  method test, mass hygroscopic rate rate is less than 0.3%.

No corrosive: rock wool chemical properties stable, PH volume is 7-8, is neutral or weak alkaline, carbon steel, stainless steel.

No corrosion of aluminum and other metal materials.

Safety and environmental protection: rock wool after testing does not contain asbestos, CFC, HFC, HCFC and other harmful substances to the environment. It will not be corroded or produce mildew and bacteria.( Rock wool has been recognized as a non-carcinogenic substance by the International Authority on Cancer Research )

3. Application:

Rock wool panels are commonly used in commercial and industrial buildings to insulate roofs, walls, and floors. They offer excellent thermal and acoustic insulation properties, as well as fire resistance and moisture resistance. They are also durable and can withstand high temperatures, making them ideal for use in buildings that experience extreme weather conditions or industrial processes.
