The aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) fire extinguishing agent is composed of fluorocarbon surfactant, foaming agent, foam stabilizer, freezing resistance agent, cosolvent and water. As its aqueous solution is lighter than water and can float on the surface of combustion liquid, it is also called "light water" foam fire extinguishing agent, which is a new and efficient foam fire extinguishing agent.

The AFFF foam fire extinguishing agent is of the double fire extinguishing effect of foam and aqueous film, so it has the advantages of both high fire extinguishing efficiency and short fire extinguishing time.

The 6% (AFFF/AR, -30) is applicable to fresh water and sea water, and it is not affected by freezing and thawing. Moreover, it shall be mixed with fresh water and sea water in a ratio of 6:94.

Due to its general performance of fire extinguishing, it can simplify the fire extinguishing for unknown or Class B fuel fire (in which, oil and polar solvents are mixed), so it is the preferred foam fire extinguishing agent for chemical plants, solvent factories, power plants, tunnels, ships, docks, oil fields and warehouses.

Principle:

Fire extinguishing effect for petroleum and Class A substance is better than the protein foam fire extinguishing agent and the fluorine protein foam fire extinguishing agent. In addition to the general performance of foam fire extinguishing agent, while diffusing on the surface of combustion liquid, it also can rapidly drain liquid to cool the surface of combustion liquid, as a result, a layer of aqueous film is formed on the combustion liquid to seal the surface of combustion liquid together with the foam layer, which will isolate the air and form the thermal insulation barrier. Furthermore, after absorbing the heat, the vaporized AFFF can dilute the oxygen content of the air on the surface of combustion liquid, which imposes a suffocation effect against the combustion liquid to prevent the combustion. In addition, the rapid diffusion of the foam layer can prevent further heating, vaporization, and combustion of the combustion liquid.
